A hammer always has to be in control as a nail has to follow orders. I would say I am the one who always gives the orders. I have to always be the one in control as much as possible.I am so use to being in the same day to day routine I cant seem to let anyone else hammer me down. As a hammer is on top I try and try to be on top as much as i can. put as some nails that can just seem to to get hammered once or twice and goes straight in With some I find my self to be that from time to time depending on who it maybe the one hammering me down.Life may be a struggle but trying be both a hammer and nail is just part of life. We are the ones who have to decide when to be the hammer and nail others down and when to be the nail and let others be the one who hammer us down. I think my personal life I know with my boyfriend we are both we are the hammer and the nails. In order for anything to work you have have an equal amount of nail and hold the hammer together at times. I know that at time i need to set the hammer aside and let others take the handle. As someone wrote not always does a hammer be need sometimes people need to be the nails in life and enjoy the little things in life.

ReplyDeleteHmmm ... how can a hammer be in control if it can do nothing with someone using it? A wise man, a former President, once cautioned us to speak softly, but carry a big stick. How is being a hammer working for you in your personal relationships? Are there ever times that you grow weary of being the hammer and would enjoy being the nail?

I read it and found it provided some good observations about your writing that you could consider as you continue to work on this essay process. Had there been anything improper or offensive, I would have contacted you via email and told you about it.
ReplyDeleteAllowing outside readers to share your work and offer comments is helpful as you develop your own style. Sometimes, just as during class discussion, someone else sees something or says something that gives us the key to what we are trying to write in our own essays.
If you do not want comments from cyberspace, perhaps you should write a paper blog. See my in class and I'll provide you with a notebook.

One other comment: do not write what you think I want you to write. Write what needs to be said for the reader to understand and accept your essay. When you write to please a certain reader, the writing won't sound natural or important, but it will sound unnatural and stiff because you are trying too hard to please a teacher rather than write what you want to say.
